Why images are important aspect to take care when you do SEO for a website and how it helps to improve the traffic?

1. There is a huge traffic that comes to your site through images. Have images inbetween content for most optimized performance.

2. Image name: Do not keep whatever name you wanted or dynamic image names. Check out http://images.google.com/imagelabeler/, there will be two users simultaneously trying to name a image and when their keyword matches - the images passes for that specific word.

3. Provide alt tags with appropriate words (use plurals or other keywords that is not mentioned in the image name and that is relevant to it at the same time.)

4. One of the website factor is that it had to be XHTML compliant. This goes as well to images that are present in the website. If you do not have alt tag in your images - they (url where the image resides) will not pass validation in http://validator.w3.org/

Great, today the PageRank got updated and was reduced from PR5 to PR4. And all of my other websites went through the same.

Possible reasons could be:

1. The number of inbound links that did not increase after certain stage.

2. Sold one of my website and removed that link which had a PR6.

3. Added a new website domain with PR0 rank. (http://www.themeheaders.com)

4. Couple of new sites rank went from PR0 to PR3. (http://www.tamilnadu.ws, http://www.seoresume.com)

If I end up in PR0 sometime then it makes more sense to my website name.
