I kept this blog running so long, just to find out that it was more than passion. Yes, I have recently started my own Internet Marketing Agency based in New Jersey, USA. I had been investing all money into this new SEO/SEM company, because I know this is going to work irrespective of recession, this blog site itself is a proof of my online presence on SEO work.

Coming from a family that runs successful business with more than 500 employees, I decided to work for another employer rather being in ready-made managerial position right away. So, after around 11 years of work in different industries, there were lots of experiences, ability to understand things as employee, understand client needs, undergo work tension, expectations on deadlines, commitment and the budget factors as a project manager. Wikivorce is a very popular new site, 30 people register per day, about 3000 page views per day and growing fast.

I appear in natural google/msn/yahoo search, but only really for by site name plus some unlikely niche terms like “divorce calculator forum blogs” and page rank remains stuck at 0.

Hi Ian,

You have a great site going. These are all few things that I noted that you would like to change it.

1. The meta keywords and descriptions for the site is not effective, you might want to change that.
2. The main site forwards to another url which is http://www.wikivorce.com/joomla/, there are two disadvantages here, one thing is the forward activity and then the second is that the main site is in a subfolder. You can change so that your site is in the main site itself, the only drawback will be that already indexed files in search engines will get affected, but on a long run I would suggest that, until otherwise you have plans to do something on the main url itself.
3. The style css can be kept in a file and referred (included) in pages rather than putting that in the file itself.
4. Some of the url’s doesn’t have the meta description itself. For example: http://www.wikivorce.com/joomla/Divorce-Forum/Child-Support-Contact/
5. Also you can create subdomains such as http://divorceforum.wikivorce.com and then point it to the folder.
6. I understand that you are using Joomla software for your content management system. But your site folder doesn’t need to have the subfolder to be called as joomla.
7. I would recommend you to talk with webmaster and to check on the IIS settings on main url, creating sub-domains, adding appropriate keywords and meta descriptions.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the query. And I am sorry for getting to it quite late.

1. Please make sure your url is submitted to various search engines and not alone google. Also add sitemap.xml and keep updating them whenever you create a new post.
If you search for “Marko - Photo Travel Blogging” then your site will be indexed, this is because there are few sites that had referred your url with this anchor text. To see what I am talking you can do link:http://photo-blogging.blogspot.com in google’s blog search.

2. My other suggestion would be get a domain name for yourself, rather than part of someother sites and being a subdomain. Registering a domain is easy and hosting nowadays is affordable too. The main advantage is that you can maintain your site effectively with more control and also in future if the site who is providing free domains runs out of business, all your efforts in getting indexed all these days and anything else (business/refers/fans) will get ruined.

3. Other than that, you can follow my other posts on tips and suggestions to improve your site in general. Also for your hobby/profession if you haven’t already done that you can register in sites like http://www.flickr.com. Participating more in your interest related community sites will get you lots of referrals and pointers towards your main site.

Updated the title again with mix of old and new (lengthy one though). Check this earlier post PageRank 0 site title changed on Jun 28th, doing this definitely affected the ranking (listing rank) in search results for few major key word combinations.

I am bringing it back with my old title, appending with SEO and SEM as well. Many people might wonder whether I am writing about how to spam or what? - but if you go through the site completely you would understand what is the purpose of this site and why I had been doing all these.

Few people who had commented here in this site, has used the tips that I had given. But some of them had tried to spam, using referrals to get money, etc., I will get back to the consulting again, but this time only to those who ask legitimate questions and who bother to mention their names. I will skip requests for example - which just says “hey, improve my site” - now when you cannot take much time to request exactly for what you are looking for - I don’t have much choice other than skipping it.

I have been evaluating the sites based on the dates it was requested, but if you are regular visitor who is waiting for your website to be evaluated, write me. I would rather spend time on a regular visitor rather than someone posts for request and moves on. So write to me and I will evaluate in loyalty of visitor rather than the order of request.

Question:

I’m now for over a year stuck at pageranking 4 at google, just managed to get inside the yahoo directory and am now at there ‘new’ pages, but not yet inside the dir. How do you cross the PR4 and get a higher ranking?
Is it even possible for a handcoded site to go above PR 4 at all? Do i need to make it dynamic (like use wordpress or drupal?) or what do I need to do to go to PR 5?? Any help and suggestions are welcome

Suggestions:

1) It is not true that pagerank stops if it is a static one compare to dynamic site. I think the pagerank for tolkienlibrary is 5 now. So I guess your next target is thinking about page rank 6? Check the site in various browser - it throws javascript error in IE7.

2) There are 5 errors for validation, you can check it here http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.tolkienlibrary.com and fix it accordingly.

3) You can also create a subdomain and have blog for the site. It is going to be an asset for the site.

4) Please check other articles (evaluation) as well tips on improving the site further.

1. Site is not well designed, lots of images as menu and swapping javascript and nested tables in html. Also not working correctly in Internet explorer 7.

Hi, Nice website. I have got page rank 4 in 3 months, but after that I’m skeptical, what will i get on next update, iwebtool prediction is predicting page rank 3, which is lower than the existing.

Please help me out on this, As i worked hard on building links, forum posting, articles submission and all, lots of it. Can you please examine my website, thanks.

Suggestions:

1. I am not sure how iwebtool prediction tool works, recently they have some technical problems (as mentioned in their site), but they have very good tools for SEO etc., Now your pagerank is 5 to the contrary, so continue doing what you do irrespective of pagerank movements. I guess you can add more keywords to your meta tags.

2. Visit this site http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.webdesigningcompany.net and check for validation for your site, there are like 17 errors and you can fix them easily.

3. There are three subdomains in the main site, forum.wdc, blog.wdc and templates.wdc and they have a pagerank of 4 which is good, but for the links under read our most popular articles (edit the template as it could be dynamic to have the attribute, rel=’nofollow’). As every time google bot visits, it is going to treat that as new links and though the weightage will be given those articles, will reduce the pagerank of the main.

4. Along the line, the url for the blog articles are like p=5, p=6 etc, modify the permalink to be custom so that instead p=5, it will have the title of the post in the url as well any other subfolder that you wanted to include. For example, this site (Page Rank) uses this custom permalink

/index.php/pagerank-0-10/%postname%/

5. Overall, the site is well designed and organized correctly, I guess with few detail modification it will improve in a great way.

Suggestions:

1. You have sufficient meta keywords and description, please try to reduce the number of times “myspace” word used, because search engines could penalize it - thinking that the site is trying to misuse certain keywords. Also, include keywords such as “need myspace images/gifs/jpgs,bmp”, “free site backgrounds”, etc.,

2. As the site is resource for all myspace resource needs, it will not be a bad idea to link to myspace.com, so that users who were not aware of myspace - could go there signup and use xtrememyspace for their website needs. 

3. Backlinks are vital for a site, try to search for myspace groups, forums, mailing list etc., and try to create popularity. Try to get backlinks from other sites.

4. Provide “alt” key for all your images so that they can be indexed in image search.

5. As said earlier use “submit url” in google - submit to various search engines such as google, msn, yahoo, excite, altavista etc., and also to search engine directories. Also there are people from many countries who uses myspace - try to globalize the site.

6. There are various ways to get linkbacks, there are blog theme designers who create typepad, wordpress themes. (I used to create wordpress themes). Also visit, themes.wordpress.net - there are very talented people on designing themes who looks for sponsorships. Personally, I can recommend the theme author at http://www.wpthemes.info/ - you can talk with him and mention that you are contacting him through pagerank0.

 Question: Could you please tell me how to improve my page rank, and also how to get included in major search engines?

Suggestions:

1) In the meta tag keyword, cubic zirconia is repeated many times and you can add more keywords - such as prom jewelry, buy jewel box, purchase jewelry, where to buy jewels, quality gems, cost effective jewels etc., Think how a user will search in google if they wanted to purchase a jewelry and then use those text not only in the keyword section but also in the content of the page, if possible. Also I do not see “sparkling” or “gems” word in the keyword list.

2) Try to participate in online forums or groups that not only relate to jewels but also related to purse, shoes, make-up sets etc., as women who visits these sites might likely visit your site as well. Please check other suggestions that I have provided on how to comment etc., on other posts.

3) Try to get as much backlinks as possible from other websites, especially sites related to shopping.

4) IMO (In my opinion) the color of the website can be changed little bit if possible, because the white background dulls/dims the gem/jewel images. And the page-enter BlendTrans effect can be removed as it slows down from a page visit to another. Also most online shopping sites will not be using these javascript effects (browser effects)

5) There are various search engines such as google, msn, yahoo, altavista and in each site search for “how to submit url” and then just visit all the search engines/directories and submit your url http://www.sparklingems.com/ with description.

6) Google.com is already indexing your website, if you use this word “sparklingems” in google you can see your site listed, but the thing is to optimize your site so that users can reach your site with specific keywords, identify those keywords, find out synonyms as I mentioned earlier and use it effectively.

7) Please change the light blue font in the site if possible, it is difficult to eyes because of the white background.

Question: Will you please assist me in up ranking my site for google?

Suggestions:

1. Sign-up for google account (gmail) if you do not already have it. After that go to My Account and get your domain added in the webmaster tools. Follow the link for steps to do that

Once you have signed up, you can add your domain name and check for what keywords users are visiting your site using google. As earlier suggested in this site pagerank0.com you can use sitemaps and add it in the root directory where your site content resides.

2. Your site is already indexed in google and you will be able to find that out if you search for the keyword eloancanada in google.com

3. Check your site in IE7 and also different browsers to check whether any javascript errors are thrown and fix those.

4. In your site meta keyword, the words canada credit card loan is repeated lots of times. Try to choose different keywords synonyms - use dictionary.com and you can get different keywords when you search for meaning of credit. You can use like grant, lend, borrow etc., and also you can use state/city names in the keywords.

5. If possible try to reduce the number of advertisements in the site or atleast in the content area.

6. Try avoiding nested tables in html as it affects performance of the site.
